Over the past year I have watched and recorded all of Barack Obama’s televised speeches and debates. I am also reading his awesome book “The Audacity of Hope.” Now I have collected some of his key quotes for your reading pleasure. Truly he is the smartest and most eloquent person to run for president in my lifetime. The quotes are organized into four main topical areas: American Dream and Values; Change We Can Believe In; Politics and Policies; and Solutions Through Social Service.
Hope you find these gems to be informative, inspirational and influential. He clearly understands what our country needs for the future. Enjoy all the “bumper stickers” that I found on the Internet. Truly there are as many positive reasons to vote for Obama-Biden as there are negative reasons to vote against McCain-Palin. Now that the Obama campaign is fighting back I will shift more of my writing to the positive changes we can expect under an Obama administration. Truly his election represents the best and last HOPE we have to save our country and the planet.
John McCain does not have the temperment to become president. He is a vengeful vigilante and compulsive liar who has trouble controlling his temper. These and other severe personality disorders are due in large part to the five-plus years he spent as a POW in Viet Nam. The psychotic behaviors McCain exhibits are a result of the post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). We really cannot trust this crazy old codger who has lost touch with reality. For more see: Old McCain Should Buy a Farm – Not Become President.
In fact, many of these charges about McCain’s mental illness were originally raised by the Bush campaign back in 2000. At that time, Republicans clearly were worried about McCain’s PTSD and related emotional instability. Now, eight years later and the evidence is clear that McCain is even crazier and less stable. Our world will be in real trouble if this loose cannon and his redneck sidekick are elected. Time to send this discredited old cultural warrior back to Arizona to spend his golden years in a rocker like other diabled senior citizens.
Jimi Hendrix was an amazing guitar player, but he also had much to teach us about how to change our own lives and society. His legacy includes an open embrace of the great potential within our minds to achieve higher levels of consciousness. He was a fearless spiritual adventurer – boldly going where no man had yet gone. His lyrics and life provide valuable insights into the nature of the sixties counterculture. For many of us, Jimi Hendrix was truly the “High Priest of Rock and Roll.” He also was the first multi-ethnic person to become famous. This article includes excerpts from the best articles about Jimi; as well as lots of quotes, pix, and lyrics. So for now, as Jimi would say: “Excuse me while I kiss the sky!!”
I have written this article to inform, inspire and invigorate women everywhere (and hopefully some of the hipper men. As a lifelong supporter of women’s rights I am excited in all the ways that young women have leapfrogged young men in school, work, and the social sphere. Men now need women more than women need men. As a man I understand and appreciate that there are things that we can do better than women. However, our future depends on re-balancing the male-dominated drive with women’s harmonious approach to life. As always I have included some prime selected pix and quotes that I collected from across the Internet. Hope you like the pix since all were embellished with PhotoShop. Read more
I want to pay tribute to an amazing singer; as well as a path-breaking woman. I am going to provide you with insights, information and inspiration from the life and creative legacy of Janis Joplin. In many respects, she will be remembered as a public pioneer in the women’s movement. Her story is a case study of the hippie counterculture. I hope that you will enjoy this analysis ofand tribute to one of my main spirit guides (along with Jimi Hendrix , John Lennon, and Jim Morrison.) Her spirit is more alive today then she was at the time of her death. BTW – although she died directly from an accidental overdose of extremely pure heroin; it really was alcohol that killed her (as it did Jim Morrison.) Be sure and listen to her music and learn her lessons. Read more
Let me recommend “High Fidelity” if you want to learn and laugh about love and music. I have loved movies all my life. When I watch a great movie again after many years it has an enormous impact on my life now (and I recall how it has affected me in the past.) So I will post my own summary for you that include: pix, dialogue, reviews, and trivia. You really will find this 2000 movie has many lessons – among the laughs. It does a great job of showing how music is intimately connected to our personal and social lives. See more about my music at the above tab.
